Yes Mrs Lontano kicked me out of the listening seat and we went to Brighton. Cost me a small fortune as I found two very good record stores. One of the stores was so crowded - so much for the death of CD's and the credit crunch. It just goes to prove if you get it right, then you can make a success out of music sales still.

Cheers

Note to self: Must get the rest of their albums, this is rather good (I've also discovered I've got Bring It On in the rack)

PanaMonk

Monk music played by Danilo Perez from Panama. Saw him live six years ago and I can still clearly remember his big chops and smile.

More CDs from my Koln trip today. Mainly been getting my teeth into this:

Have listened to disc 1 (Kyoto) and disc 6 (encores) twice, and like what I hear. Maybe the "unevenness" I've read about occurs on the other four discs?

Also, the last of the budget ACT CDs:

Very lively sax, bass and drums combo - sounds great!

Nigel - I don't think you will find "unevenness" as you listen to the other four discs. It is all good and a wonderful document of a series of concerts in Japan.

Enjoy.

Thrift store find. Somewhere in these shredded grooves there is a great performance. Very much in the fiery Toscanini tradition but with Russians (!!)

......October 24th at The Gala Theater in Durham hosts "The world’s greatest living drummer" (AKA Billy Cobham) rediscovering his Latin roots with dynamic young Cuban band Asere.
