What's it like Adrian? I loved Trovesi's last album on ECM (VAGHISSIMO RITRATTO).

It's not like the last album at all. This is a mixture of jazz and classical doing Verdi Opera. I think it works pretty well and was an enjoyable listen.
Cheers

Stefan - I think this is your kind of album - different Trovesi from normal in that he is playing a mixture of jazz and classical - performing from Verdi Operas.

earlier, in the car, a record, that I THOUGHT was a great disappointment, at first listen, a bit embarressing, when it turned up, the second time, and I was not alone in the car, and now is one of my most played, respected and enjoyed CD's of 2008:

In a sense of fair play I gave this another (short) listen. It still sounds like a group of 5 year olds let loose in the school music room.(None of these children were equal to Beethoven BTW).
That is a little harsh. Certainly not one of my favourite Miles Davis albums, and I do think it is very over-rated by critics.
The aim of Miles Davis at this time was to see what improvisations would throw out, not to compose great melodic pieces, so comparison to Beethoven is difficult.
The complete sessions, and other releases from this period do give some more accessible (better?) music.
Perhaps the main achievement of this album was that as a release it was a document of how the band was developing, and not a polished and refined collections of compositions.
Still I do agree, that it is not an easily accessible selection of music.
