Copying soundtracks from DVD to CD

Does anyone have any ideas how to do this? I would like to put onto Cd the music tracks from DVD's like Led Zep, OGWT etc so can play in my Cd player or Cd walkman.

I've only found one way to do it, and that's to use the analogue stereo out from the DVD player into the analogue in of a CD recorder (Marantz, Pioneer, Philips etc). You will of course only get two channel sound, but it's pretty impressive, certainly good enough for in-car or a CD Walkman.

My CD player has some sort of locking device to prevent you digitally cloning the soundtrack into a CD recorder via coaxial or optical cables.

I certainly haven't managed to do it on my Macintosh, so I think doing it without a stand-alone audio CD recorder might be a no-no.

I've done it a few times using a piece of shareware called DVD Decrypter which copies the DVD to your hard drive and removes the copy protection at the same time. You can then play and record it relatively cleanly using Roxio or Creative or whatever you normally use. It does require a reasonable sound card (I get CD quality recordings from my Soundblaster Live) and a lot of disk space. It also requires a fair amount of work to split into tracks and then clean it up (I use Sound Forge) as I've never had a whole DVD play from beginning to end without some sort of hiccup.

Incidentally I've just done the Led Zeppelin DVD and it sounds magnificent on CD.

This works for me..

Set digital output to 2ch stereo on DVD.

connnect DVD digital output to spdif digital input on CD Recorder, select correct input

set auto-sync, press start on DVD, or just press record on the CD Recorder.
