Spikes vs Blu-tak

Posted by: Emil on 21 June 2002

Could anyone compare & contrast (kind of reminds you school, doesnt it) between the two when used
between the speaker and stand. Im using the blutak at the moment since spikes are not an option with my current stands. Speakers are Reference 3A Decapos.

Thanks

Emil,

I found that using spikes tightened the bass up on a pair of castles and my curas. i also felt that the treble was a little more detailed.

See if you can borrow some spiked stands from your dealer. I'm not aware of how your stands sound, but as you can't spike them a change would bring a difference anyway, this may make it difficult to judge!

Can you try cones instead of spikes?

Might give you a feel for the difference, without muddying the water with a different stand?

I thought about it. Im afraid my speakers would slide off the cones and onto the floor frown

I will try purchasing spikes and using blutak to attach them to the top plate.

Thanks

Firstly, you won't get spikes to stay in place with blu-tak.

Cones would be more much more stable, but if you tried to hold them in place with blu-tak they won;t give you any benefit.
