The best seat on a rollercoaster

Posted by: Not For Me on 03 March 2005

Is it the front, where you can visually decouple from the car, and feel you are rushing through space

or

The rear, where you can see the undulations of the car, and the reactions of the other riders, hands in the air?

Front - avoids upchuck (yeuuck).

Interesting you should mention this, I always thought that the front was the best place to be. Having returned from Florida in October last year, and doing all the Theme Parks.

In Universal Studios Islands of Adventure they have a few white knuckle rides (and yes I'm a big kid and can't resist) They have something called Fire & Ice which are so called duelling coasters. We were told for the best results to ride Fire in the front and Ice in the rear.

Of course that meant you had to ride each coaster twice so you could compare if what you were told was true, and I have to say that there was a difference in each ride. I'll also add it's not wise to ride these things in quick succession, especially after a 2lb cheesburger Roll Eyes

Prefer front, but will take rear over any other place.

Front gives you the falling type of rush, in back more like a whip.

Any seat my kids are in while I watch from the sidelines.
Funny, if I don't feel I have some control over the "ride" I don't really enjoy it.

Finally rode one of these things a couple of years back "The Hulk" in Universal(?). Not sure if I could handle the front seat though.

This thread reminds me of the joke about a bar in the desert muttered by a gravel-voiced musician on Comic Aid. We laughed until we cried.

I won't repeat it. Fritz might be watching. Big Grin

Yes Howard The Hulk is In Universal, and I've ridden a few coasters over the years, and that one was the first one that turned my legs to jelly. It was one of the most violent ones I've ever been on! Eek but still very enjoyable.

i thought the hulk was rather slow and smooth
duelling dragons is fun especially if your in the front, when the 2 coasters are hurtling towards each other and they break away ito a 360 at the last second
kraken is excellent ,the 1st drops a killer

Sorry Gian, just put it down to my Irish side.
Incidentally good to be talking to you. I like your posts and your English is better than that of a certain member who shall remain naimless.
If I get it right it must be around midday on sunday in not so sunny Italy.
Around 90 here today in the shade so after being locked up in a meeting room all day went down to the esplanade to watch the birdwatchers watching the birds.
They come from the other side of the world to watch birds that have migrated from the other side of the world.
Now thats also what we call Irish.
