A new GOMEZ thread

A new Gomez thread, the 'old' Gomez thread having been closed down now by HWMBO.
Jeff, Ryan and all others who enjoy Gomez, you might like to watch these recent live clips from the Vic, Chicago (we've heard the soundtrack, eh Jeff and Ryan
).

hi James,
looks like the same video, but that is a different Lincoln ad !
been listening alot to Ian Ball solo at Mountainstage on October 10, 2007. Quite good.
Have you picked up his solo disc ?
It is on my list.
Best regards

Henners,
I nearly got lynched at a recent Gomez gig for saying so, but I think although it has some good songs, Split is Gomez' weakest album (they got in some pop producer).
How We Operate is a much stronger album. And even though it's got a couple of songs that make me wince (might be my age!), even Girl-Shaped-Loved-Rug sounds great LIVE, which is where Gomez excel.
Haven't yet heard the solo Ian Ball, Jeff. Thanks for reminding me about it!

Just want to add my name to the new Gomez thread.
Been listening to 'Out West' on a CDS3 I have on demo and it sounds awesome.
Any news on the band touring in 2008?
Cheers

I think 'Out West' is a great album, and gives a really good idea of what the band sounds like live. And for a live album it's pretty well done. My own favourite track is the Nick Drake cover 'Black Eyed Dog' going into 'Free to Run'.
It'll sound b good on that CDS3!

It's just arrived!

Sadly I doubt I'll have time to listen to it before Christmas, but will report back after a good listen once or twice (or even three times) whilst relaxing with a couple of botts from the glorious emporium nearby, 'Beers of Europe'.
Have a good one.

Finally had a chance to listen to it. After listening to the links posted by Jeff, I had feared this album was going to be a bit self-indulgent. And yes, I think it is a bit. BUT it is at times a delicate and sensitive offering, and there no glaring howlers of tracks.
For myself, it probably illustrates why I like Gomez and their approach as a 'collective' - all for one and one for all!

Here (I hope) are a whole load of Free Downloadable Gomez Gigs including one somewhere with their cover of 'Soul Kitchen' (saw them do it once (fab!) on the 1998 Hootenanny New Year's Eve BBC2 TV show).
I'm too thick when it comes to computers to work out how to download any of these FREE downloads and turn them into CDs. Someone will be brilliant though!

Gomez news.
Ben Ottewell, that most distinctive Gomez voice, is embarking on a short series of solo gigs in UK this Spring. Click here - middle column for dates.
