Please Naim......

Could you build a Streamer device in the XS range!
Could it be priced around £1,500, slightly less than CD5XS, as per NDX/CDX2 pricing?
I was going to go for a NDX, but cant justify £3,000 to go with my nDAC,155,152XS. You have catered very well for the uniti range (serve, qute), and the classic range has the HDX and NDX, so what are the plans for the XS range?
Similar, i'm sure to a lot of your customers, i do not want to spend a huge amount of money on a storage/streaming device, nor do i want to duplicate products, ie amps in qute, if pluged into DAC, but i do want an all Naim system.
I value all boxes being the same size and have the same finish (keeps the wife happy).
Any plans?
Please, please help.
Justin

Well, I'm not a wife but it keeps me happy, too.

Justin, Justin... You've abso'effin'lutely ticked all the boxes on my Naim Dream Streamin' Machine! Price, form factor, Features, All of them! I guess I was hinting at that with my Final Thoughts on Qute review... but you said it so clearly!
Naim would deffo have my money there... as long of course they stick within Justin's specifications and price!
XS form factor...
Circa 1.5K pounds sterling ...
Streamer and maybe a mid range DAC
No amplification and if there is, up to XS standards...

Alonso, love the passion here, but it's not appropriate for a "sticky". I'm sure Naim will find it interesting though...

Have to agree, would gladly upgrade from my Touch and Caimman DAC to a £1500 Naim streamer/DAC, in full width case, upgradeable with a Hicap to give the next easy step up in performance for both the streamer and amp. NDX is a step to far in price to partner with my Nait XS. Come on Naim!

Glad that some of you are waiting for a similar product. I would like to confirm that it would be great if it was:
1, An XS series product.
2, Packaged in a FULL WIDTH XS case.
3, Was priced around £1,500.
4, Was designed as a source only product (with no internal amps).
5, Came with a built in DAC, but offered better sound quality than a bare NDX with the addition of nDAC.
6, Could be remote controlled via iPhone/iPad/iPod.
7, Could be upgraded by Flatcap/HiCap etc.
My 2 pence worth!
I don't agree with signing a petition, as i find that a little insulting to a company of Naim's pedigree. I'm sure they know better than us.
Regards to all
Justin

Hmm. So you want something for £1,500 that will sound better than an NDX / DAC for £6,000. Can you really see Naim doing that?
If you want a one box streamer and dac, such a thing already exists, but it's made in Glasgow rather than Salisbury.

Hi Nigel,
Perhaps not written clearly, but would like XS Streamer (£3,500? with nDAC connected) to sound better than bare NDX (£3,000). I understand and would expect that bare NDX (£3,000) would sound better than bare XS Streamer (£1,500?).

A Naim UnitiQute will do everything you want...digital out to your nDac and doesn't look out of place at the top of an XS stack...my 2 pence worth.
Posted on: 31 October 2010 by Justin9960
Hi PureHifi,
Thought of that route, but don't want to pay for all the features that would be redundant, as good a product as i'm sure it is.
Also like all the boxes to match.
I know, some people want it all....
Regards
Justin

One thing I'm not so keen about is the issue of controling a Naim (or any) streaming device with an Ipod Touch.
Ok, it's nice to have that as an option, but I'd like a streaming device with a readable display in the first place.
(so, not like the teenyweeny display info on the Cute)
I can just about read/follow the info that's on my SB Touch when I sit on the couch, and I now use a Logitech Harmony 600 remote to control both the SB Touch and my Naim amp.
With a Naim streaming device that's only usable with an Ipod/pad, I'd still need 2 remotes.
(one to navigate and one to adjust volume)

Alco

So basically you want to pay more for less? Sounds like a plan.
The Qute has radio as well.

...or am I wrong in thinking that you can't adjust the volume when using an I-pod as remote.
(I thought you could only control the streaming unit with it)

Nigel,
No i simply want improved sound quality, and am prepared to pay for it (as one usually has to).
