Please Naim......

Could you build a Streamer device in the XS range!

Could it be priced around £1,500, slightly less than CD5XS, as per NDX/CDX2 pricing?

I was going to go for a NDX, but cant justify £3,000 to go with my nDAC,155,152XS. You have catered very well for the uniti range (serve, qute), and the classic range has the HDX and NDX, so what are the plans for the XS range?
Similar, i'm sure to a lot of your customers, i do not want to spend a huge amount of money on a storage/streaming device, nor do i want to duplicate products, ie amps in qute, if pluged into DAC, but i do want an all Naim system.
I value all boxes being the same size and have the same finish (keeps the wife happy).

Any plans?

Please, please help.

I think you want the same as I would want from it Justin. I don't want a Qute, want a quality two box solution but on the same level, ie. not an NDX into a XS amp but an XS streamer/DAC into and XS amp. Controllable by ipod touch or similar is fine by me, really not interested in a display on the streamer, I switch the one on my Touch off.

I agree Dave.

It doesn't work like that. The traditional approach is the other way around, which is more logical on a number of levels, not the least being commercial and media suicide.

Harry,
What you don't think that it would be reasonable if the order of sound quality was;

BEST - NDX with DAC
NDXS? with DAC
NDX
WORST - NDXS

If not, would you please explain.

Thanks

(I thought you could only control the streaming unit with it)

You can control EVERYTHING with the app–it's not a simple UPnP control point, but a full-featured single-client remote control, also applies to NDX + CD player + preamp/DAC (relative volume increase / decrease on legacy preamps).

Yes Justin. That hierarchy looks more logical although if past experience (and commercial expediency) is anything to go by you won't be able to jump past the next level by upgrading from below. Which raises a well worn point, if bits are bits, what possible difference can there be when feeding a dig out into a DAC from streaming or serving suppliers of data? There certainly are differences between a CDX2 and HDX (to my ears in favour of the HDX) both feeding into a nDAC but I put that down to how the data are collected, assembled and sent in each instance. We're not comparing like with like. Allen's findings on the HDX versus the versus UnitiServe SSD both into nDAC suggest we don't need a plethora of graded boxes, just a damn good dig out. This would put the emphasis more on the possible development of a DACXS and a DAC555 to get any significant gains. I don't think that's going to be too easy either.
