They sound a bit like big Kans with more tonal colour, more natural bass and a more open, less damped sound. I suspect they would in some ways be as demanding of the rest of the system as Kans. Which is better is hard to say, based on my limited experience of them. I don't think I would ever have swapped my Kans for a pair but now that I have no speakers Super Elves will probably be on my list of possibles if I decide to get speakers in a few years.
This is not much use if you're not familiar with Kans - sorry if that's the case.

Any opinions you can share, yet ? About a week before you bought yours, there was another pair on Audiogon, which had peaked my interest. I didn't do anything, but was wondering what they are like. I have always been intrigued whenever others on this forum comment about Shahinians.

Super Elf's are fantastic speakers. They can be bright, however this can normally be cured by altering their setup. If using the ikea stands then changing the angle of the speaker can dramatically alter the sound.
I use mine on Partington Super Dreadnoughts which in my room work better than the ikea stands. Most owners normally stick with the ikeas though.
They also take some serious driving to hear them at the best, 135's, Dynavector or Linn Klimax amps all work really well with them. I have driven mine with a 250, but currently drive them with a Klimax twin.
They can easily sit on the end of a very high end system and not let the show down, they are very 'right' musically and great to live with. Like all shahinians new pairs take a long time to settle down and bed in properly.

Audio Excellence in Chester have some 2nd hand Obelisks advertised on their website for £1650 at the moment. Seems like a good price compared to others I've seen on sale. Any takers?

Kevin,
It depends on the age, condition and finish. Obelisks have been made since the mid 70's like 250's and lp12's they have evolved quite a bit and the later models are quite a significant upgrade. Better cabinets, better drivers and a better bass radiator. If they are black, then this would also explain the attractive price.
