I wish all motor racing could be this good.

I know, it's ancient, and the cars would be slow by today's standards, but what would you rather be entertained by? Flat sounding 2 litre saloons or these beauties?
Part two should be in the right hand margin.
Great stuff.

Gerry Marshall, the driver of the Viva, was one of my motorsport heroes. There's a great video of him in the legendary Baby Bertha on Youtube, with onboard footage. great sound from the Holden V8.
Bring back Supersaloons!

A great example of how power alone does not win races. Forget the level playing field, skill will out. The moment when Martin Thomas overcooked it made me cheer for Mr Crabtree and his fully deserved win.

And if I could see a field of these I would be happy for the rest of my life. The sound at about 3 minutes 20 secs defies belief. And if that's not enough they build a 2000hp, road going car that does the 1/4 mile in 7 seconds. I didn't think that was possible!

Yeah, there's just no way you want that 'fast in a straight line' Camaro to win is there?
I notice Murray's commentary didn't change in 30 years...

527 CI times what for liters then? I thought it was 16.2.
ie 427 CI x 16.2 = 7 liters as in Cobra.

I always use, approx, divide the ci by 60 to get litres. I use sites like this to get it exact. Also, I sadly just remember that my old 350 was 5.7L, a 289 is 4.7, a 500 is 8.4.....

Anyone else recall Rallycross on TV? It was one of those Saturday afternoon 'Grandstand sports'. Used to be good watching as I recall.

OH YES!! I even worked with a team for a couple of years back in 1990/91. My interest was ignited by attending this meeting at Lydden back in 87. I was stood just by the cameraman at the start line.

Rallycross moment a la Murry "the guy in front can see in these conditions because of the holes in the front windscreen" just as he is about to crash into Mabbs Bank.
