Try & see if you can do a software update for your Sony. My Pioneer needed a current update for Batman Begins.
Current updates are usually downloaded via. the web. or they can send you out a disc.
Call Sony to find out if there is an update for your model Blu Ray player.

It seems to be a growing problem with Bluray generally Neill....I've heard the Denon 2500 is having all sorts of problems with various discs. Tends to be consistent discs that are giving problems, such as Hulk or Wanted to name 2 which I believe are all very feature heavy with live content and such...
I think as the software manufacturers are pushing the boundaries of the medium, it's causing problems with the hardware, particularly with the mess of profile 1 and 2...I guess it's still early days, though it shouldn't be.....It's like DVD all over again !
Of course, you could just require a FM update with your Sony, but there are soooo many reports out there of players not working with various discs - crazy!

You should be able to download the update from Sony's website - go to Support.

could anyone take time and explain profile 1 and 2 to me?

You really only need BD Profile 1.1. Profile 2.0 really adds the requirement for something like 1Gb DRAM onboard and IP connectivity to run the BD Live internet content off disks.

So far the only use I've been able to make of profile 2 has been to download firmware updates directly from the Internet, and this is hardly a frequent activity. I don't think anybody has really come up with anything more useful than that. It's definitely for the future and not essential for Blu Ray in its current state of development.
