Start with Guitar Town, next try Train a Coming, El Corazon, the Hard Way, Jerusalem, I'm Alright, Transcendental Blues, and Washington Square Serenade. The live CD and together with Dale McCoury are also worthwhile.
Very prolific and versatile artist.

I have Guitar Town, Copperhead Road, Corazon, Townes and We Ain't Ever Satisfied . I enjoy them all.
I'd recommend any of them.

I have Trans Blues , thought I might pick up another, thanks for the list, Copperhead road is famous.
He is such a bizarre character, he also recently produced Joan Baez' latest CD.

To paraphrase the man himself on Austin City Limits a few years back: "It is amazing how much time you have when you don't need to spend eight hours a day looking for drugs".
Time, which since that well-documented part of his life, he has spent on his music, his career and his family. To the benefit of us all.
