I think that gentlemen of discernment such as are found on this Forum who deplore the marketing behemoth are the exception rather than the rule and do not form the target group for the vomitus of that behemoth. Good advertising pays for itself - and it doesn't have to be enjoyable, original or relevant to pay for itself.

I understand what these words mean when taken singly. But I have no idea what they mean when you put them in this particular order.

We're much too good for that crap but they don't care because we don't make a jot of difference to the vast wealth that it is possible to con, cajole, or flatter out of the common peasants that are everywhere.

How's that?

I quite like the Tennants Ad where the Voodoo curse has an effect but on the wrong people.

I suppose the ads are there to prevent the programmes from lasting too long and challenging people's attention spans. Or maybe the programmes are there to create gaps between the adverts to give us a chance to let the messages sink in before we get the next dose...

Perhaps Aunty Beeb should adopt advertising and save us the cost of the TV licence.

I hate TV, adverts even less.

The TV is for live events (sans adverts) or movies via DVD - anything else rots the brain.

Shouldn't they just buy better programmes with OUR money ?
