NoMan/Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) news

Posted by: Stephen Bennett on 26 March 2003

Hia all

I just thought you'd like to know that the new NoMan album, 'Together We're Stranger' has just been released. For those of you who don't know, NoMan are Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree and Tim Bowness.

There's also contributions from Roger Eno, Ben Castle (Roy's son) and some bloke called Stephen Bennett.

It's available from the usual suspects and also at www.burningshed.com - which is worth a look as there are also some new Steven Wilson solo projects out.

Regards

Stephen

PS if you're not familiar with NoMan think David Sylvian, Blue Nile, Portishead, ECM, Eno, Sigur Ros, the more reflective Porcupine Tree and err....

Thanks for the alert. Listened a few times now and there's some really melodic keyboard artistry. Drones on a bit though.

BTW Stephen, I've just noticed that your main contribution to the new No Man is to make that ghastly noise at the beginning Smile

Alex

PS The second Sigur Ros is wonderful.

Agree with you re: Sigur Ros. Have you heard Múm? 'Finally we are no-one' is great, but not sure how many Nordic women singling like little girls I can take!

Also agree with the 'noise' - I hate it and I made it! It does throw the rest into sharp relief I guess. That's my career over then.

Hi Stephen,

Heard you mention Sylvian which interests me just looked on Amazon but they don't appear to have it so will check this burbingshed site out.

I see Porcupine Tree have done quite a few albums does anyone recommend any one in particular?.

It's on amazon.co.uk - under No Man.

Tims voice has often been compared to Sylvians - they work in the same 'area' and no Man have used Japan's ex-members on albums, so it's no surprise!

As for PT, there's a compilation called 'Stars Die' which is good and the new album 'In Absenta' has some beautiful and heavier) moments - PT vary a lot from album to album.
