Let's talk about service

Posted by: JeremyB on 24 December 2009

Just picked up my nearly 2 year old MacBook Air from Fedex - Apple repaired it free of charge in time for Christmas as I luckily had added AppleCare when I got it. Those guys turned it around in just 4 days door to door via the repair center in Houston TX fixing all the faults I reported and some I didn't. What they did:
New top case
New Video cable
New Audio board
New hinge assembly
New antenna assembly
New magnet

Now it's wonderful and I can skype again Smile

Apple follow through!

Jeremy

On this side of the pond, to "follow through" is not exactly polite... ha ha!

The joys of one language, eh?

The moral of this story is that in future I should buy Applecare (typing this on my currently very problematic macbook pro)

Yep.

Don't cheap out.

Their support staff is well trained.

Once this chap was with me on the phonoe trouble shooting with me for 2 hrs.

Then he called me back to see if it's working correctly!

Kuma - that's good service. I have experienced apple service a fair amount recently. We have four mac laptops in the house. One is currently at apple for a new backlight, one won't switch on (so a trip to apple imminent) and this one I am writing on has a keyboard issue where it often goes off and does all sorts of things without me touching the keys.

It is getting expensive without apple care.

I have spent many monies on apple and only needed to phone them twice about the same issue. I got delivery of an imac and the screen was knackered, they were very sorry and got someone to pick it up. They sent me another with the same issue! I phoned again and they were real sorry, they collected sent me a new one and a 100 quid voucher to use on the apple store.

I was pissed at the time but in retrospect it was good customer services. Touch wood I have had very few issues with apple gear since. I did manage to fry an airport extreme but turns out that was my fault.
