I guess it won't happen then.

What a bunch af gamey, whiners they really are, the spirit of Enzo ia alive and well.

Maybe they will start their own racing in which only Ferrari are allowed to win - oh sorry, they've already got that Big Grin

Why do people talk as though Ferrari have won everything in F1 since the first championship year? Ok, there have been some very dodgy decisions, but they won nothing from about '78 til the Schumacher years. Hardly a dominant force, even with the mafia's role!

The whole point of Ferrari being in F1 was/is to show what Ferrari are capable of. They have been the only team to build everything in-house. They've been there from the beginning through many highs and lows. They've taken a lot of stick over not delivering results even with a massive budget.
What's the point of 'Ferrari' taking part in a one make championship? It won't prove anything about the mark. Or BMW, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota.

Good on Ferrari, I say. And if they enter sportscar racing and fight the diesels with proper-sounding engines then even better.

The purity of F1 is going to be lost forever.

Ferrari have certainly not won everything, thats for sure, but they certainly peddle more than most their racing pedigree in their marketing, which is fine and exactly as good old Enzo set it up origioally. But I see no problem with trying to create some kind of parity between the teams, whether it is the same "base" engines which can be breathed on, or a simple upper spending limit. I just get a bit peeved when having a reputation for playing the game with the best of 'em that certain manufacturers are the first to B***ch. I think fair competition is great and I hope that the FIA achieve a good balance to bring some of the excitement back into the sport ( without the blatant gamemanship )

The current rev limit, control ECU and maybe an engine inlet restricter would suffice, I'd guess. There has to be some freedom with the engines or there really is zero point being there. Imagine if Ferrari leave and then Frank Williams and Ron Dennis retire. That'll be it then. Faceless German and Japanese companies ruling the roost. No personality.

I think I'll try and get to Santa Pod this weekend if the weather holds off. Top Fuel, Funny cars, jet car.... Noise, excitement, fireworks and little politics. Oh, and £25!

Good luck getting to Santa Pod, sport for fun as well as winning - I remember that from my youth ( Mike Hailwood, IOM TT Races - I was watching not competing you understand Winker)

Have a great time

Of course the idea of one make engines is stupid. F1 is as much a competition about technology as it is about the drivers.

I agree with Tony and Ferrari. Engine development is an integral part of any package. Admittedly, in the early eighties when everyone (apart from ferrari) was using Cosworths, the sport was still interesting but those were the days when chassis developments were coming thick and fast. Now that most of those advances have been banned, it seems that the FIA want to remove yet another point of difference in the sport, when in fact, all we want is difference and variety.

As for Bernie, he just doesn't get it. This isn't about money - it's about prestige. His answer is completely at odds with the spirit of the sport.

Now if Ferrari made this statement because the FIA said they wanted the engines to go over to diesel, or (OMG) electric, then I'd have a different opinion! I'd love F1 to consider the diesel or bio-ethanol options at the least. Perhaps then we'll start seeing some greener initiatives from these brands.

good let them bugger off - whingeing tossers will probably start their own version. as for F1 im affraid i lost interest in it long ago having said that i hope Lewis wins the title and puts ferraris nose out further.

By locking up his brakes at the first corner, first lap and sliding into them? Winker

Having the same engine may reduce that specific item cost but you can be assurred that teams will just hurl more money at other elements of the racing package. With margins of performance so narrow they have to to eke an advantage. It would not make for better racing either, in fact differences in power delivery allow some margins to exist for various cars to be quicker at certain tracks or even specific corners.

If F1 is about anything now it is about high technology, and undoubtedly its advocates would say that freezing a single engine spec would stifle innovation.

Why not restrict engine capacity, or total weekend fuel volumes? The innovations produced may at least feel to be more 'useful' rather than pursuit of pure excess with these restrictions.

F1 getting a greenish tinge is a bit laughable mind you. They fly vast amounts of stuff all around the globe from race to race and have now had a night race with enormous amounts of power used to illuminate the track!

(and if Ferrari's F1 association is going to result in more fat-arsed boulevardiers like the new California than I for one don't mind upsetting them!)
