This has got to be one of the weirdest tweaks of all time but i at least am convinced. All you have to do is:
Plug you phone charger into a spare socket next to your naim gear and switch on. Mine is a Siemens, i don't know if it works with other brands.
I have been doing this on and off for a few months now and can definitely notice a difference. The silences are blacker, there is more air to the music and everything is that bit 'purer' (harsh edges are reduced).
I am just guessing but i assume that it is affecting the mains supply, i've heard about this working with microwaves but never phone chargers. I have tried other mains conditioners before but can safely say that this tweak kicks Russ Andrew's ass big time.
I would be very interested to know what you lot think.

The 24 volt mains adaptors that come with my Rega Ear and Fono should do the same trick then.
It's always a nice day for it
Have a good one!
Steve.
It's good to get back to normal.

Come on ya bunch of wussies, who tried it? Doesn't anyone even want to declare it the king of tweaks?

I reckon your charger could be switch-mode or just filtered.
Are you sure it doesn't affect the system rythmically.
The effects you mention sound like the effects of adding a filter, quieter, smoother, yet less flow.
Andy.

Hi Harris,
I also have a siemen mobile, in fact, I have 02 at home, mine and my wife's. I tried to plug it in next to the freezer, as I saw the demo for silencer before, the buzzing noise will go instantly after you plug the silencer next to it.
I didn't try to plug next to the mains block for the system yet.
Are you sure it's working?
Before I read your thread, I had decided to order a silencer to see whether it's really worked, they have 14day money back guarantee.
cheers
Martin

Martin,
Go ahead and order the silencer. I am absolutely 100 % convinced that in my system a bog standard mobile phone charger is the best mains conditioner that I have ever tried because it does not ruin the rhythmical abilities of the system. I have tried the silencer for over 6 months now and remain unconvinced that it does anything worthwhile - but maybe thats because my system does not suffer from a noisy mains in the first place.
I am still using a mains ring rather than a spur and the effect is more noticeable if the charger is plugged in 'upstream' of your system.
I do not think that putting near the fridge will necessarily help mainly because I suspect that the charger is not doing anything clever to suppress noise - but then I don't really know what its doing - only that it works.
