Lingos

Having just returned from the England vs Turkey game I decided to play some vinyl, Aja-Steely Dan playing at the moment- I have very good neighbours! Big Grin). Just recently I`ve had a Mk2 Lingo on dem to compare with my Mk1 and found that the difference was marginal. Now I know that this subject has been covered numerous times, but being fairly new to this forum (which is a truly a great medium for us hi fi fanatics) I would be really interested to have an opinion from users of Lingo`s as to the benefit of owning a Mk2. I cannot identify a great difference between the two, (I played drums in a Rock/Blues band for a number of years so maybe my hearing is not up to scatch-hello Ronnie how is Van?.

Thank you and good night

Colin

Ps That Glenmorangie single malt really kicked ass!

I have not done a comparison, but two Linn dealers have told me that if you have a Lingo I, it would not be worthwhile to replace it with a Lingo II.

Colin

I have heard an A/B dem of ther original and latest versions of the Lingo.

Suffice to say that it will be my next upgrade.

Regards

Mike

I think I will dem the new unit at some stage as it will be a relatively cheap upgrade. There seems to be those who say it is night and day while others hear not a great difference. I really wish they had kept the half box though or at least offer an internal only upgrade. I think that there is always a great danger that small differences get blown out of all proportion.

I really hadn't planned to upgrade from a Lingo 1 (early ½ box model) at all but I have to say that just 30 seconds of demming the Mk2 version was sufficient to convince me it was an utter bargain.

Has the board been upgraded in the Lingo 2, or just the box?
Thanks

Yep, the difference was very clear to me with the 2 being so much better that I bought one
