Anyone into Muse?

If so which albums are worth getting for when my ears stop ringing Wink

I had a last-minute opportunity to see them live at Wembley last night, and although Wembley is a totally crap venue for getting into a band who's music you're unfamiliar with, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and there's some obvious talent, particularly in the lead singer's guitar and piano work, worthy of deeper investigation.

Should blow any dust out the IBL's anyway!

All the Muse albums(3) are pretty good so what you want to do is see it you can pick up one of there first two cheap (Showbiz, Origin of Symetry) if not just plump for their latest Absolution, which is still in the charts and should be able to be picked up for £10.

Absolution is a fair/decent album but I have to listen to it in the car as it sounds awful on my naim sistem IMO. Bad recording? I would be interested in other views on this.

All 3 studio albums are musically superb. My favourite is "origin" but the live CD "Hullaballo" is best sampled on DVD.

In fact I find all of their albums extremely poor sound quality and rather rough and ragged through the main system. Why not get the Hullaballo DVD and burn a CD-r of the soundtrack?

I went to see Incubus there a year or two back, and they had such an awesome PA, it totally transformed my view of Wembley as a venue.

Interesting - Muse's was total shite by comaprison then, although it was excellent in the PRat stakes, it sucked from the point of view of any clarity.

All fireworks, no subtlety Wink

In fact it was intersting from the perspective of what makes a modern gig like that - not only the sound guys doing the audio mix, but live camera work displaying both edited visuals on two large video displays and some excellent computer generated imagery, some with live 'sound to visual' effects and overlays to live video.

Very impessive, a sound and video editing team both working in the control area.

P.S. Picked up Origin and Showbiz tonight second-hand from the local shop, for peanuts.

Listening to Origin now, and it doesn't sound bad, dynamically compressed, but musically good.

I think Absolution is the worst recorded of a bad bunch. I like the album musically, but this was one of the first albums I played after buying my CDS3 (I thought it could work miracles at this point having been astaounded by my first couple of CD plays on the cds3), but it still sounds compressed with instruments and vocals being mixed in a thick porridge of noise.
