BBC iPlayer on Uniti?

Need some help please. I have an early model without any of the firmware upgrades. Is it possible to stream radio via the BBC iplayer directly through the Uniti?
Thanks
Best wishes

do you want live or pre recorded?

There was an application called 'get_iplayer' which you could run on a PC and which would have made it possible to pipe iplayer output to the Uniti. Unfortunately the BBC thwarted this appication and the original developer gave up, others have continued the work and I am not sure of the final status of the application.

IIRC I got on better with the Linux version of the application rather than the Windows version.

My PC has a coax S/PDIF output which I now have linked to a Qute. This should work with any sound application including iPlayer. I've been looking for the BBC 'HD sound' but so far I have failed to find any.

Thanks garyi and Michael, I wanted to listen to pre recorded garyi. I have a MacBook Micheal and it doesn't have a coax, so it looks like I will just have to connect it to the uniti another way. I was hoping that there might be a way of streaming some of the live Radio 3 concerts and Late Junction straight into it.

Would I be right in thinking that by using the usb socket at the front, I will be by-passing the mac's DAC and using the higher quality one in the uniti? Thanks

The USB socket on the front of a Uniti is for a memory stick. You can't use it to connect to a computer.

If you have a Mac with a USB port, then it is possible that you could use a Highface to give you a coax S/PDIF port which you could then connect to a Uniti. That is my theory, but I have not tried it, as I have neither a Mac or a Hiface.

All macbooks have digital out, why not just connect it that way? The uniti has two optical SPDIFS on the back.

that's the simplest way - you need 3.5mm/Toslink adapter (could be find for 1 eur) or similar cable.

Great thanks for your advice everyone. I hadn't thought about using the optical inputs.
