Prezza in hospital

I'm no GP, but I don't think you just get pneumonia, do you? Isn't it generally related to, and a result of, a more serious condition?
Has he a heart problem?

No, he has a pie problem.

I think it is well known he has a diabetes problem (this is of course pie-related). Indeed he has cited this as a reason for stepping down.

Diabetes (especially if poorly controlled) makes him more at risk of serious infections, and generally makes him more complex to treat and likely to be slower to recover as it is associated with multiple medical problems.

Having sid that perfectly fit people get penumonia too, some can be very, very sick or die of it despite being properly treated etc.

I had a really bad cold a few weeks ago. It was just receding when I went on holiday but it was still lingering and my ol' mum ordered me to the doctor who promptly announced that I'd had a pretty bad case of bronchitis and that I needed antibiotics...!

And after a week I needed another course of antibiotics before it completely cleared up.

Maybe he really does have pneumonia.

It can develop from other conditions, or in it's own right. Apart from the "pie" factor, it's a more significant recovery ordeal for older people and Prezza is nearly 70.

Not only is he nearly 70 and not very healthy in general terms, but is about to enter one of the major stress vortices of anyone's life - i.e. is about to retire/be retired from a high-profile, demanding job. I would suspect stress was the trigger for a range of other symptoms.

Well, I hope he'll be okay. Not sure about his political value personally, but he has always been good entertainment.
I'd love to be at his retirement party!

"Give me a big house." "Give me more money." "Give me the afternoon off to play croquet." "Give me pies."

Yeah, very demanding.

Regards,

Willy.

And he may be praying that his wife forgives his wandering ways. She is going to be seeing more of him from now on, which might indeed be stressful...
