Essential Music - The Shop
Posted by: Martinm on 28 April 2002
Not sure if any of you have visited, but in Bournemouth and Southampton (not sure if they have any other branches)I recently found a CD store called Essential Music.
They have a range of Classic albums (about 200) at £6 each - I recently got Sting, Ben Harper, Joan Armatrading, Led Zep, Shaun Mullins, and Beth Orton.
The prices of the rest of the Cds are really cheap to - picked Pink Floyd The Wall for £14.
So if you are near these places it's well worth the visit.

Where in Bournemouth ?
I note Stand Out has shut, so it would be good if another site opened.
No vinyl though I expect. I shall have to go to Avid instead.

Gary,
Thanks for the info.
I have been once to the Stand Out in Salisbury, whilst on a visit to the Naim Factory - very much like the one in Bournemouth, but without the post rock and indie rock. I bought a very fine Emmanuel Top record there.
Try and buy new, non-dance vinyl in Bournemouth! I tried, I failed.
There seems to have been a outbreak of house / trance shops in Bournemouth, although there is one right at the top end of Landsdown Road that has a bit more interesting stuff, electronica, electro, D&B etc.
