Most nauseating song ever

Posted by: Jeremy Marchant on 10 September 2008

I've just had to rush to the radio to switch it off (Naim being remiss in omitting a remote control on the 32.5; I've tried using a long stick, but the switch on the front is surprisingly stiff when activated from a distance of eight feet). In a show about the large hadron collider, up came Louis Armstrong singing "What a wonderful world". Why does the BBC do this? Surely that song qualifies as one of the most stomach turning of all time.

Sunday in a park in London A Concert Celebrating ALW's 60th birthday, should be a not to be missed gig.

Jeez a bolt of lightning just seemed to pass through the living room, time to unplug I reckon.

"McArthur Park" as sung by Richard Harris is brain mashingly awful.

"King of the Road".....Another crime against humanity.

God - they're both going round in my head now...

Anything by James Last.

What's the difference between James Last and a cow?.........A cow has the horns up front and an arse at the back, whereas etc etc....

Certainly not - he's a great bloke though he should have given that bear some cookies.

Baldy Collins on the other hand is, in my book, and complete and utter ...... but I promised I wouldn't say anything about him - so I won't.

Sorry once again 151, as you know I don't like to criticise artists on the forum that is my rule and I'm not going to break that rule for that dreary bald drummer who was once in Peter Gabriel's backing group - so I'll leave to honest loveable Noel to hit the nail right on the head - a fair an honest appraisal of PC.

BTW I'm not a big DF fan, nut Andy W is king of grindcool Smile

You may already know this but it helps me get through 'What a wonderful world' without hitting the off button - it's the (almost) exact same song as 'Twinkle twinkle little star'. I imagine the twinkle lyrics (which IMHO are preferable) and hey presto the great Louis A's schmaltzy swansong is transformed into a wonderful childrens lullaby. Twinkle twinkle little bat, or My Dad drives a racing car can also be interspersed.

In defence of Louis = when a trumpet player has a split lip he has to do something...

Is it me? But personally I am delighted that someone with the Forum name 'Chuck' has chosen to use his first post or two on a thread entitled, 'Most nausiating song ever'. Good for you, Chuck, and welcome to the madhouse.

Sorry I wasn't going to get involved here but anybody disliked by Noel Gallagher can't be bad in my book. However I don't like Phil Collins. Such a quandary.

And using frogs to sing Wings in Shrek III was inspired.

Also to mis-quote a bad joke "Do you think he will go down on one leg again?". Please retire NOW!

It's because many people do worry about what our little people are eating these days, and besides, Sportacus does not approve! : )

I've thought of another one...

Imagine by John Lennon. With added hypocritical sanctimony.
(And it's not even competently recorded.)

Brown eyed girl
Imagine
What a Wonderful world
Come on Eileen
Fairytale of New York
Because The Night

Confused

Somebody needs to define nauseating song for me as none of these comes anywhere near that as far as I'm concerned.
"And I will always love you" by Whitney Houston (but not Dolly's original) would certainly be there for me, as would the obnoxious version of Candle in the Wind done for Diana's funeral.

Tom I withdraw my nomination because compared with your nomination, there is no way I could possibly compete - no matter how nauseating I find Because The Night there is no way that it is as nauseating as Whitney Houston and surely that record you cite together with almost anything recorded by Sting defines the term nausea. And of course there's a whole bunch of mindless moaning rappers or hip-hap or whatever it's called. So I unreservedly withdraw Because The Night despite it being my very least favourite Patti Smith song.

Surely, this thread ought to be about the worst music you admit to having bought!

My vote is for Flock of Seagulls, which even the man in Our Price tried not to sell me, with warnings about its content. But when you are young....

We all know what seagulls produce in large quantities.
