Wilson Benesch Orator

Has anybody heard these speakers and what do they think of it? I heard they were designed to be placed close to the wall. Is that true, it seems hard to believe.
I can buy a pair at a good price and I do think they look gorgeous. With the Classik and the CDI I moight get a pretty decent system that looks awesome!

Thanks, Bas

The spec at

http://www.wilson-benesch.com/Oratormi.htm#Specifications

says that they are a free space floor standing speaker

I use a pair of ACT 2s that are also defined as Free space floor standing and I position them at least 3 feet (a meter) from the walls

However ymmv - I suggest you try them out in the desired postion

Hi,
I haven't heard the orator, but I have act 2s that I keep about two feet from my rear wall. It is the optimal position in my apartment, as I have a slanted ceiling that drops down to the level of the tweeter on the left speaker at a distance of about twelve feet. Bringing the speaker any closer to this slanted ceiling drop seems to make the sound for expansive, yet less focussed. Putting the speaker to close to the rear wall can lead to a slight boominess.

They say the Chimera isn't ported. I'm going to Chicago next week for a listen. They are way too big for my apartment, but I have always been curious what those isobarick tactics sound like. I'll post when I get back.

I am almost ready for my 500!
