Name that Frame

Posted by: Andrew Randle on 14 March 2001

OK Lads n' Lasses,

Thought it might be a good idea to start a thread going along these lines:

What kind of product name would you give to Naim's new stands?

The possibilities so far are:

1) Naim Edsel
2) Naim Time Frame
3) Naim Frame
4) NAS 1/2/3/4/5/
5) abx251.4W

Any more? After the suggestions, we'll probably conclude with a poll to see which one we like best.

Then Naim can marvel at our creativity and then dutifully ignore it ('cos they've come up with something already big grin ).

Matthew,

Pah, splutter, "do we win one!" roll eyes

big grin

Do you think I'm made of money (said in broad Yorkshire accent)?

B.T.W. Who was it that can put their name to the "Naim Edsel" moniker?

You are spot on. I saw the Naim rack at the Bristol show and it looks superb. It just oozes quality which cannot be appreciated until you see it close up.

I could order some Hutter direct from the continent for about £900.00 or buy some Naim at £2,200.00. That is a big difference, but experience of life as taught me that buying something that is OK will always be regretted later on. The Hutter is good but the Naim is light years ahead on appearance and I liked the sound. I might buy the Hutter and then kick myself for not buying the Naim. The difference of £1300.00 is nothing if you ammortise it over the years ahead.

The Mana is a different kettle of fish and I would never put it in my lounge on grounds of appearance.

My guess is:

NA CIR (Naim Audio Component Insulation Rack)
NA CIB (Naim Audio Component Insulation Base)
NA CIS (Naim Audio Component Insulation Shelf)

We do need a name for the new speaker, any ideas? the right one will be rewarded. Vivo is not suitable as apparently it is supermarket chain somwhere!

Any guidelines Paul? What do you want it to say? Does it have to end in "o", etc?

Jay

Hi Paul,

I think there are two possible type of names: one which follows the tradition of the *BL tradition or a Latin based name which ends with an -o. I have a preference for the first category which IMHO suits the rest of the Naim range better, but this will mean you end up with one speaker which is called differently, the "Intro". For the first category I suggest "RBL" which stands for "Rounded Box Loudspeaker". For the second category I suggest "Medio" (not very original) or "Dodo".

Ciao!

Second rate Italian footballers playing for second division football teams??? Its time to make a stand for British industry. The Bowya..

Trousers.. Nothing added. Mind you what would he do with a Hi-Cap?

Credo means believable.
Intro means entry-level.
Vivo was to mean lively.
What about Tempro?
Posted on: 14 March 2001 by P
How about the "Sterco" ? - just kidding!

Sensible guess

In the Naim hierachy we have - Intro2 - Credo - SBL - NBL - DBL ..and previously IBL yes?

The new one is a hybrid of the Credo and NBL and sits above the Credo and possibly the SBL too?

So how about - HBL - hybrid box loudspeaker?

I kinda like the sound of that

Thanks for dropping VIVO BTW chaps.

Regards

P.

I thought they were already being called AnorRacks.

The speaker? How about Naim FLS (F* Lovely Speakers)

You could then rename the DBL's to 'BFS'
