Name that Frame

Posted by: Andrew Randle on 14 March 2001

OK Lads n' Lasses,

Thought it might be a good idea to start a thread going along these lines:

What kind of product name would you give to Naim's new stands?

The possibilities so far are:

1) Naim Edsel
2) Naim Time Frame
3) Naim Frame
4) NAS 1/2/3/4/5/
5) abx251.4W

Any more? After the suggestions, we'll probably conclude with a poll to see which one we like best.

Then Naim can marvel at our creativity and then dutifully ignore it ('cos they've come up with something already big grin ).

Thomas,

If I'm not mistaken, in Greek "misos" does not mean "middle", but "half" or "hate", depending on the accent! "Mesaios" is "middle".

Ciao!

Chaps

A new approach is needed.

I like the idea of town names begining with S.

How about the Salisbury.

Paul,

keep it up, not there yet!

Does this mean, you already have a name and we haven't guessed it yet, or you don't think the right name was amongst our suggestions until now?

Ciao! (The Naim Ciao? Nah)

P.S. For U2 fans: the Naim Bono

Juno Sister and wife of Jupiter, Juno, was the Deity of the light and sky. She was the mother of Hebe, Mars, and, Vulcan. Due to her jealousy of her husbands many affairs Juno was quick to anger, due to any provocation, and always looking for vengance against Jupiter and his mistresses. In one such case Juno became annoyed with Echo because she was to talkative. To prove her point Juno took away her voice, except for the purpose of replying

Paul,

You are a hard task master! and we all keep trying in the vain hope that we will get to play with them as a reward!

appello : to call, name, summon.
laudo : to praise, extoll, commend /name, mention, cite, quote
exclamo : to shout, cry aloud, exclaim, call someone by name
utpote : seeing that, inasmuch as, since, naimly.
necto : to fasten together
pango : to fix, hammer in, drive in, fasten
iento : to eat breakfast
garrio : to prate, chatter

I do not vouch for hte originality of these and some may be less appropriate but sound good, specially iento, my personal favorite!

Paul,

Naim Premo?? - Top of the line in the range below the SBL, sort of opposite to the Intro.

Similar to suggestion Primo above, but I thought of it before I read that - honest!

meaning divine inspiration!

Does sound a a bit like a digestive complaint though, so how about...

The Naim Regale (to entertain with something that delights)?

Or even the Naim Daedal (Cunningly or ingeniously formed or working; skillful; artistic; ingenious)

Finally, the one many of us want,

The Naim BeatCan,

'cos I definitely want Naim to make a speaker that beats my Kans wink

Andy.

How about:
DUET (DUETTO?) two voices (tweet & woof) physically separate but singing together....

Paul,
Sort of a play off Vivo, how about the Naim
Vulva
, because it "opens-up" after a little
fiddling and proper siting, then envelopes your
head with warmth and sweetness!!

BTW, if you were to choose a supermarket chain for a name, the Naim Piggly Wiggly would get a lot of free publicity in the audio journals!!

Just Being Silly,
