Wonder if he would be so welcome at Salisbury...

I don't think a lot of companies have cared....!

How many Asda stores have they ALL been to..?!

I watched a manager from Tesco the other day stating they were completely apolitical, as he stood right next to Brown (I think it was)...!

Actually, Salisbury is a pretty safe Conservative seat from what I can tell.

Is 'Dave' a hi-fi man?

Ted Heath used to have Quad equipment, as I recall, despite retiring to live in Salisbury. On the proceeds, so legend would have it, of the profits from some massive insider dealing tip-offs provided by 'friends' in the City.

No evidence that "Dave" is a hi-fi man, though he does appear to enjoy the odd silver spinner.

Ted was very much a Quad man, I remember him being interviewed about it.

An old boss of mine was a quad man. Can't recall the exact set-up but I know he he was very proud of his electrostatics. He was deaf in one ear too. Never did understand how someone who is deaf in one ear could enjoy listening to a stereo.
Regards,
Steve.

Think what you could save having just one speaker.

I have a friend with one leg, Some shoe stores only charge him for one shoe so half what I pay. In a group we all laughed then asked him how he painted his apartment on a ladder..... he makes out rather well since he's been managing since 13.

I don't understand musicians that have crap stereos. How can they stand it?

Beethoven had a crap stereo and he seemed to do ok.

Seems to me Mudwolf, the, "musician with crap stereo" phenomenon arises from two fundamentals. First, real musicians tend to be much better at hearing things in their heads than us mortals and so can fill in the gaps left by a crap stereo more effectively. Second, it will always be the case that one man's crap stereo is another man's dream stereo. I'm just back from the Munich High-End show and, even given the usual caveats that, "it's hard to make things sound good at a show" and that the choice of demo material nearly always leaves much to be desired, to my ears there were some pretty crap sounds being made.

RE: I don't understand musicians that have crap stereos. How can they stand it?
I think I just qualify as a musician having formally studied in the distant past.

Many of the people I know have reasonably OK systems so I don't get the statement that musicians have crap systems.
The problem is from a musicians prospect, no system can possibly reproduce real (live) music. So some have stereo systems for use of the whole family, some don't care about the audio quality & are only listening to the music & technique as music & not an audio experience. But I also know a well known professional violin with a bespoke privately made 80watts valve (tube) mono blocks driving double stacked Quad 63's, sources SME TT & a rarified Jap CDP.
