World Cup 2006 - A Non-Football Fans Thread/Safe Haven.

So, what are you going to do whilst the girlie men play with their balls this summer?

Switch off the TV/Radio? Unplug the interweb? Enjoy the empty roads whenever the English squad are on the pitch? Anything special planned?

Play Cricket. A proper game of controlled violence, subtle tactical nous and pork pies in the half time interval.

A good plan that, Bruce. Especially the pork pie bit Big Grin

Briefly enjoy the empty roads. They will be busy again after the first round! Winker

Is there some sort of football tournament in the offing then?

I rarely get to the shops and have a look around, so it might be a good time to go and browse. I'll certainly be taking the kids to Legoland so we can go on all the rides without having to queue, and without the jams on the M25/M4 junction.
I'd love to see a footie game where they don't bother with the ball. They could just all go on the pitch and run around and throw themselves on the ground clutching their shins. They'd get stretchered off, get to the bench then hop off and come on again. They would get scored for creativity and style and the team with the most points would win.
When does it all start anyway?

I'll be dealing with even more drunks than usual.Usually they're drunk professional footballers, and they're so easy to handle. Drunk, agressive, arrogant but above all else amazingly weedy. An absolute pleasure to chuck around - it's so easy. But this time I expect it will be drunken disappointed England fans. Not only do I not understand why anyone would like football but also I don't understand why anyone would be surprised or upset when england lose because everyone knows they will very soon.
The early evenings shopuld be good though because the gym will be empty so it will be much easier to train

When the narcissistic big girls blouses are doing their hysterical poncing around in shorts with the lower socio-economic order ranting instructions to the particular moron who has the ball even though said moron is on the other side of the pitch I will be painting my wall with
Heritage® Flat Matt from Dulux, part of a classic collection of traditional period colours in a modern paint. Then I shall sit down in a comfy chair and watch it dry which is emminently more fun.

Last year when Big Brother was on one of the cable channels had a section on paint drying with a user vote to vote off the paint they liked least. It would be great to revive that.

I like it. A very good idea.

The name of the topic would be 'Which paint would you like to have at home?'.

Could you not just watch the sky? It is surely one of the most fantastic sight, and there every day, for nothing.

Come on Fredrik get real. Watching the sky - how naff is that
Posted on: 09 May 2006 by u5227470736789439
Dear jcs,

I have to do 'naff' and have learned to enjoy it! [Low bandwidth smiley]. Fredrik

Hey, my wife seems to spend every evening watching Sky! (and that is naff).
Posted on: 09 May 2006 by erik scothron
So it looks like watching paint dry is scoring well over watching football, the heavens and crap TV. I knew it all along.

FA Cup Final tomorrow!!! Fantastic!
Hey, Argos will be empty.
I was really peed off yesterday as I stupidly popped into Asda for some shopping (should have known better). No red peppers, no courgettes except pre-packed, no garlic, no frozen sweetcorn, no organic carrots, no fresh fish, no tinned tomatoes except with added herbs and garlic....it goes on. What they did have though was two whole aisles taken up with red and white ENG-ER-LUND football shirts - scarfs - baseball hats - plates - mugs - socks - flags.....
No f**king food though!! Maybe football season means chavs only buy lager and frozen burgers and ketchup. Maybe Asda are smarter than I thought!!

Is it? I did not know that. Given this timely intelligence I shall risk a trip to chav central myself and do some chav free shopping. What joy.

Seen last week: A chav putting ketchup on his chicken tikka masala in a local curry house. Where will it all end? I'm emigrating.

No - last time I looked it was full of Cybermen.

LOL, Well, on advice from forum members on another thread I had a look at Billie Piper and I dont fancy her at all, common as muck and her baps are all wrong. I saw a pic of her in a bikini once and it was not a pretty sight. I would prefer cyber men to girlie-men playing football mind you. I am pleased to say up to Friday I had no idea the FA cup final was being played yesterday and until watching the news yesterday evening I had no idea which teams were playing. I feel quite satisfied that I managed to be so blissfully ignorant. If only I can keep this up during the world cup I will be happy.

Unfortunately the WC (apt acronym) is on for so long that to be able to completely ignore it will be very difficult. My office is unfortunately full of braindeads (more than a bit of a concern given what we do), who witter on every five mintues about the WC. I am now fully aware of its start date, but I also know when it will all end; a day my wife and I will celebrate.
