Skipping CDS2

Posted by: Rockingdoc on 14 February 2003

My CDS2 has started skipping on CDs which it previously played o.k. The puck rubbers are fine. The CDs clean and scratch-free.
Could this be a dirty laser? Does anyone clean their laser lens, and if so how?
Or is this a recognised fault, and a back to Salsbury event?

Malcolm,

my advice would be give Sheila or Mark in our service department a call.

Thanks Richard

..but in fact no need, as my dealer saw my post and phoned me (pretty good service I'd say). Problem solved; a greasy/dusty metal ring on the transport was allowing the puck magnetic contacts to slip fractionally. Carefully wiped with some iso-propyl alcohol (Blu-tak didn't work) and all is fine again.
