Grills?!

Posted by: Reto D on 25 April 2002

Hi,

I'm a bit confused wheter I shall take off the grills. My dealer recommend me not to do so and told me that the speakers are made to work with them. What do you all think or what experience do you have. Perhaps it depends on the speakers?

Of course I tried it already out and had a rather
positive feeling.

Any advice. Thank you.

Some speakers (sbl, dbl) are designed to work with grills, if I remember correctly...

I've got ProAc's and they work better without the grills. Just take them off and listem to the tweeters.

You've got to keep them outside. I've found they tend to smoke up the listening room something rotten otherwise!

What are those behind the speakers ? Those aren't curtains, right ?

Well spotted.

They are acoustic panels from RPG.

Check them out at www.rpginc.com

UK supplier is: Acoustic GRG Products in West Hythe Kent. 01303 230944. brian.moule@btinternet.com

Brian and Anita are very helpful.

I went for the 'Studio in a box' package of various sized panels.

Around £300 in bare acoustic foam or £700, cloth covered (which I have).
