OT: How much to ask for an amplifier?

Hi folks.

I've got a question for you guys - not really Naim related, sadly, but maybe someone here can give me a rough idea anyway.

The question is this: how much to ask for a secondhand Arcam 10 three-channel power amplifier, in mint condition with original box, etc.? Also, how much should its trade-in be?

I'm just a bit stuck as to how much to expect - I'm doing my upgrade calculations right now and want to see how much I could liberate for new boxes... big grin

Ta,

A local dealer wants to offer me £325 as a trade-in against a better amp - I felt it was slightly stingy, but at the same time I'm fed up having to find buyers for things roll eyes

I paid about £700 for it just over a year ago, and even for non-Naim kit that's some serious depreciation...

John,

Are you going for the Crimsons then? Been able to try the Densens?

This isn;t going to be popular, but I do think I'm going to go for the Crimsons. I was basically doing my sums re: trade-ins and so forth, but they remain easily the best amps I've heard below £2000 - although, no, I haven't heard Denson, but I can't hear them all frown

I demo'd the 100 monoblocks as well as the 200s and the 100s aren't in the same league IMHO - still competent and powerful, but they don't offer anything over the 250 or even the 150 I also heard at the dealer's.

So, £325 too little then?

John,

In London they seem to be around the £400 mark and that would be cash. For a trade-in they should be matching the going price, you are buying equipment with them after all!
