USB camera cables

Posted by: Sloop John B on 07 March 2006

I have 2 usb>> usb mini cables for connection cameras to my pc. One came with my Sony camcorder, the other with my Casio camera.

These seem to be able to connect most cameras to my computer, eg if I have friends visiting and I want to download (or upload) pictures. However my cousin has a cannon which seemed to be a different size again.

My question is

I'm hoping (if there are not too many variants) to order the ones I'm missing on ebay so I have a full compliment at home.

Thanks

There seems to be polenty of different ones to choose from, just look here.

Why do you want one of each though? just in case a friend comes round with an odd camera? I think the cable you use for the Canon camera (if it's the same as my Canon camera's) is the most common.

The logical thing to do is get a multi card reader. Jessops do a tidy one for 12 quid which reads just about everything apart from sony sticks.

There appears to be:-USB to mini 4 wire,USB to mini 5 wire and one for Olympus with a plug like an S Video connector.

I second the card reader idea, these can be useful for camera-computer transfer and also if you want to put a few select or edited photos back onto a memory card to get printed in Snapy Snaps or similar, you can.
