Kaki King -- acoustic guitar
Posted by: dsteady on 15 March 2005
Here's something new(ish) and very, very good. This if for fans of acoustic guitar, and she brings something edgy to it as well. She thanks Preston Reed on her latest, and as far as I can tell she's about 26 year old. It should be fun to listen to her develop, although she's already stunningly good.
Everybody Loves You -- 2003
Legs to Make Us Longer -- 2004
-- the better of the two.
check her out

Looks like it might be one to add to the wish list then. If you do fancy taking the plunge.. buy it from her site.. amazon are looking for a mere £44.02 per copy at present for her latest offering.

One of my good friends, an excellent guitarist BTW, has her latest cd and says it's excellent. FWIW.

That must be wrong, unless it's still an import in the U.K. 44 quid, that's like USD 90.00!

Buy them from amazon marketplace: Legs to Make Us Longer for $7.44 and Everybody Loves You for $10.98. Even with postage, it'll work out less than £16.00.
I can thoroughly endorse Daniel on this one, check out the "kick ass guitar" thread on P.F.

I bought Everybody Loves You on the strength of several rave reviews in the press. Sorry to post a dissenting view, but after about 3 listenings, I found the riffs too redundant to return to the CD again. Technical tour de force, though.

Ian, No, no vocals, except some brief singing on the last track.
Cosmoliu, I agree the 'Everybody Loves You' CD is more redundant. If it piqued your interest at all though try (I mean sample) out 'Legs,' which is better, and I think more inspired than the technical ELY.

Finally got a chance to listen to "Legs.." in all its entirety.
Must say the music is excellent - very emotional - and the recording is outstanding, one of the best I've heard.
The singing on the last track is nice, kind of a lush, introspective voice.
Check it out.
BTW, I picked it up for $11.

If you like Kaki King, I'd urge you to also have a listen to Don Ross, particularly track 2, "Michael Michael Michael". Brilliant stuff.

KK and Legs arrived in small package from Caiman yesterday (excellent supplier based in Florida - highly recommended). Only played once but initial impressions very good. Sort of a more emotional Adrian Legg.
I've been listening to a fair bit of acoustic stuff lately and I think this will fit in very well.
