Some best records to bring while driving or traveling

Posted by: andrea on 30 November 2009

Not all records are suitable for driving . . . IMO
I have at least two, or three:
1. African Horns, by Abdullah Ibrahim
2. Show Time, by Ry Cooder
3. Concert for Violin and Orchestra in D major, by L.V. Beethoven (best Oistrakh/Cluytens/RDF)

cheers

Led Zeppelin: 'III', 'IV'
Porcupine Tree: 'Signify', 'In Absentia'
Arc: 'Arcturus'
Red Shift: 'I'
Beethoven Symphony No.7
Yes: 'Drama'
Van Der Graaf Generator: 'Godbluff'
Kraftwerk: 'Minimum, Maximum'
Underworld: 'A Hundred Days Off', 'Dubnobasswithmyheadman'
and for rainy countryside driving 'I'm a Big Sister, and I'm a Girl, and I'm a Princess, and This Is My Horse'

Also for countryside drives Edgar Froese 'Epsilon in Malaysian Pale'.

I do a lot of motorway driving alone, so have often have a couple of dozen CDs next to me for long journeys. Countryside driving is different, and has different music for me.

When driving at night, I recommend...

All 23.31 of Echoes followed by the complete On an Island

I played this combo on the drive back from this years Bristol hi-fi show. I really appreciated OAI much better afterwards.

I love driving at night to Jean Michel Jarre Oxygene - LOUD. It definitely makes me drive faster. Sounds superb in the car.

Lol: I love ZZ top for driving...gives me that super testosterone fuelled hetero macho feeling of "Get out out of the way you Mother*******" as I bomb down the road to.......er...Sainsbury's.
