Tahiti 80

Been listening to Tahiti 80’s latest offering ‘Wallpaper For The Soul’ and enjoying it a whole lot. Not much word on this band goes round along these parts so thought I’d spread some round.
Tahiti 80 is a band hailing from France that writes pop songs in English. They’ve got two official albums so far. Their first is called ‘Puzzle’ followed by their second full length called ‘Wallpaper For The Soul’. Sandwiched in between is an ep called extra pieces, essentially an album of re-mixed songs from puzzle plus some extra tracks. There’s a killer of a song called ‘a love from outer space’ which makes the whole ep worthwhile though.
Anyway, back to ‘Wallpaper For the Soul’. It was released in the US last year on the minty fresh label. Its essentially a pop album full of upbeat fun songs. Complementing the drums, bass, keyboards and guitar is an indulgence with digitized effects with usage of various instruments such as flutes, cellos, violins, organs etc. In ‘Puzzle’ this gives a very different modernized sound. In ‘Wallpaper For The Soul’ such a sound is still there in abundance but is now complemented by orchestral sounds which gives a very interesting modern yet retro feel to the album.
I've been enjoying this album a whole lot. The last album that got me this excited was The Flaming Lips ' Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots'. Hope you guys will enjoy this as well. Fans of the likes of the ‘New Radicals’, ‘Ivy’ or post-soft bulletin ‘Flaming Lips’ would probably take to this album.
Anyway, as you can see, I’m quite poor at descriptive writing but do yourself a favor and do check out the album.
Regards
