Site for collectors of classical music on vinyl

Searching the net for some obscure recordings, I stumbled across this appropriately named Canadian site: http://www.mikrokosmos.com/index.html.
It's a site that sells used LPs and 78s, with some of the titles looking quite tempting. The full catalog is a 66 page, single-spaced Word document with nearly 4000 titles for March.
I'm not a vinyl guy, but this may help nudge me toward getting a cheap turntable.

Just had a good look through.
The prices are terrifying for some of the records. You would really need to be dedicated to vinyl more than interested in assembling a collection of music in recordings to buy some of these, and there are many cataloguing errors where, for example, there is complete confusion between Decca and English Columbia.
SAX is a series of English Columbia issues, and LXT and SLXT are Decca series. Klemperer never made a commercial recording for Decca [there is a radio tape of Mahler with Ferrier on Decca], but almost half his records are credited to Decca, and not correctly assigned to EMI, Vox, etc ...
To find inaccuracies where I know the answer leads me to doubt others where I do not, so good luck to anyone trying this out. I have my doubts as to the value of buying second hand vinyl over the internet. I would think playing it over as you used to be able to at Harold Moore's in London before committing big money would be nigh essential.

Interesting that there are such errors. I don't know much about old LPs, so I can't tell if the published info is right or wrong. All I know is some of the records they do have seem quite interesting - like some of Robert Riefling long-gone recordings. Maybe I won' buy a turntable after all. (Of course, use LPs are bountiful where I live, so who knows.)

The two Robert Reifling recordings I have are priceless! Greig of course! But he made Bach recordings which I have been told are very special as well.
I realised looking through it, that I have owned a rather [embarrassingly?] large number of LPs looking at the list, over the years - far more than 600 odd that I had at any one time - and hence I actually knew the numbers of some of them! How sad is that! Must get out more, I suppose!!!
In practice it looks like I am going to find myself with a whole pile of vinyl to sort through shortly, so may have to get a cheapo TT again, and some simple Phono stage or the correct boards for my 72! I thought I had left all that behind, but perhaps not!
Next I'll be getting a 78 player and revitalising the 1000 odd 78s I had twenty five years ago! I think it's called reversion!
Anyhow, I am simply hunting for Bach on the harpsichord played by Walcha! Plus perhaps also such amazing recordings as the Pathetique and Symphonie Fantastique under Klemperer, both of which should be, but are not, re-issued in CD form ...
We shall see.
Thanks for the link! George

A person on another forum states that he buys from this source all the time, and that it's a guy running a business from his home. This person actually lives in the same city and thus has contact with him. Says he is reliable and the quality of the goods in line with what is published. Looks like managing thousands of LPs may just result in some typos.
