Hello all,
Having not posted on these forums for a while I am now returning with a disgraceful piece of self-promotion... I've just released a self-produced EP, which may be of interest to some of you. You can hear tracks at
www.cdbaby.com/cd/owenduff, and I have a new song (recorded with some brass players) on
www.myspace.com/owenduff.
Hope this isn't in breach of the forum rules...
Over and out,
Owen

Dear O,
I would have thought it was rather nice to put a bit of harmless self promotion on the Music Room page!
In my music making as a freelance player, I never got hold of archive recordings till late on when I ceased to want to take the strain of taking a fee. Those late recordings show a decline in my own technical capaciity (arthritis in my left hand, which is ruinous on the string bass), so all I have to show is a few photos (of no interest at all to anyone, but me), and some nice recordings which apall me! I guess I regard them as special, but flawed. I am less forgiving of them than the few early efforts, where I could be forgiven as being only an apprentice,
Good on you, though I am too tired to listen to the samples tonight, though.
All the best from Fredrik

Thanks Frederik, I'm never sure what the rules are with promoting one's own music (does it constitute advertising?). Your freelance playing sounds interesting - any recordings we might have heard?

Owen,
Good luck with your recording. Writing and performing is intensly personal and putting your stuff 'out there' takes balls.
All the best,
Erik (knighted for services to music - I was made to sign a formal undertaking never to sing in public)

O
Go on, promote yourself and good luck. I love and adore music, alas I have no talent to perform or play it, so if you have it flaunt it!
good luck
Diccus
