CDSII suspension

Posted by: Rockingdoc on 28 March 2001

Being a twit, I didn't read the instructions, and removed the transit bolts from the CDSII underside with the unit upside-down (this was always ok with the CDSI). It made a bit of a clunk, and now the suspension seems to grate if bounced even a mm or so. Should there be more free movement (my CDSI had loads)?
I don't really want to send it back to the factory if there is nothing wrong, so can you please advise if your CDSII has much free bounce.
Thanks

not good! You need to get that sorted, call your dealer.

When the transit bolt is removed, the suspension is freed up. Now the whole thing rests on small spikes internally and you should never tilt the transport by more than 15 degrees without the transit bolt in place, otherwise the transport mechanism will slide off its locating points and it will not work properly. Oh, it'll read discs and play but the suspension won't be working correctly and it could do damage in the long term. This should have been told to you by your dealer as part of the prenuptial agreement you made when marrying the player...

Please take it back to your dealer but check with him first about whether or how to put back the transit bolt as I can't remember if it'll still locate properly.

Regards,
Frank.

Thanks, but I was only foolish enough to undo the bottom set of bolts. I'm sure these shoudn't release the finely balanced upper suspension?

O.k. Paul, I suppose I better head for the dealer.
