Nuno, this was the subject of your first post here.
I think you should buy a Linn LP12, not the CD5.

And I'm sure there's a Pentium 5,6 & 7 just around the corner as well...
If the CD5 does it for you, just buy the bleedin thing!
Music first.

SACD has been out for four years now, and I think that we can safely say that it has been a total flop.
CD was launched in 1983. By 1987, almost every recording could be purchased on either CD or vinyl. By the end of the Eighties, vinyl was beginning to disappear fom the high street.
Four years on from the launch of SACD, and I haven't even seen one of those now not-so-new silver discs.
Buy the CD5, it is expensive, but it is also good value for money. It plays music recorded on CD.
Regards,
Steve.

Ok I post about SACD once!Well, I just need to save my money for cd 5!It´s expensive but it´s a great cd player!Better than buy a Exposure and compromise my Nait
And there´s nothing like Naim sound, isn´t that true?

Yes, Nuno, it's true. Now start working your b*tt off, and buy the *#@!*@# thing. You'll do us a huge favor (and yourself too).

I'd not totally disagree with you, but Minidisc took a lot longer before it took off in the UK.

Has SACD actually taken off anywhere else?
Does Minidisc count as hi-fi? :P

Nuno,
I hate to say it, but it's getting to the point that I'd rather hear about racks......
You are going to drive yourself crazy!

Ok guys
I understand your impatiente! But now I heard both sources and I can compare! As I´ve got a Nait 5 I need a good source, that won´t compromise my amplifier! This was my first problem and now I understand!Second problem is to choose the rigth I heard CD 5 and it´s a good source! Why I wrote here that probably I would buy a cd 5?It´s because sistem synergies, when I heard Júpiter it seems very smooth sound !Today tell me that Júpiter has a very smooth sound,it´s a charactheristic ,nothing happens with sistem synergies !I prefer Júpiter source, but cd 5 has better synergies with my amplifier! The problem when I heard Júpiter was that my dealer prefer analogue Maestro and he spend most time demo this source! But now Júpiter is in the poole position ,it´s my sistem and I start to save my money!Off course I will test better Júpiter,it´s very musical but Nait has a more forward sound!
But guys I will take care ,it´s my money !
BTW ,make a sistem it´s not easy,we must test all the components! It´s what I´m doing! ![wink](/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

Don't freet the indecision Nuno. It is a hard call. The thing to remember is that if the Jupiter will not satisfy over a reasonable period of time, don't buy it. The cost diffrence is not massive and you would be better to wait and save if ultimately you want a higher quality source. If you buy the Jupiter and subsequently decide it's not what you want - that's a bigger loss.
For most of us these purchases are compromises, there's not too many on the forum who can just get what they want without thinking too much of cost. Sit back, relax, listen and then make a call.

Vuk was the second person to tell you to be a man on this issue. The only person who knows the right answer is you. Words of encouragement, pats on the back, confirmation from people here that you are making the right indecision isn't going to make your bloody hi-fi sound any better.
Buy the CD5 - you know it makes sense. Then buy a Hi-cap. Then trade the two in for a CDX.
Otherwise,
Buy the Jupiter. Then trade in the Jupiter later for a CD5.![frown](/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif)

I suffered a moment of indecision over racks last September when I wanted to swap my QS Ref for Mana.
However, it was short-lived because I made my mind up to keep the QS Ref in a matter of hours, and I contacted the owner of said Mana rack for sale in order to pull out out of the deal and offer my apologies. To this day, I am happy with the decision I made even if I have brought down the wrath of certain individuals on my head for doing so ever since.![roll eyes](/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif)
Just like you Vuk, I'm happy with the performance of my system in my room now that I've got some Mana under my speakers.
Regards,
Steve.

Nuno,
Yes synergy is all.
You have 2 options:
Sell your NAIT5 and buy a Jupiter and a Rega amp.
Or buy the CD5.
Be a man with a Naim... or with a Rega.![big grin](/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

I did suggest this possibility to Nuno once upon a time.
However, now that he has his Nait, ultimately, he'll be much happier with a CD5 in the long run I reckon, especially when he starts to play through his CD collection and hear how the CD5 locks onto individual musical threads and the overall musical sense like no other CD player this side of a CDX.
Regards,
Steve.

Why buying a Júpiter I compromise in synergy?I feel that most of Naim menbers think that Naim amplifiers just work fine with Naim sources!tell me a good reason, most of sistems are mix, isn´t it?for example ,my dealer didn´t advice to me a Naim cd player,he just tell me to choose one that I like most!and he´s the guy who sold my Nait!

Dear Baptist Nun
I suspect you are the most successful troll ever to visit the Naim Forum.
I salute you for your humour, and your patience in exploring so carefully for the benefit of the audience the differences between two lowly sources, a better one, and what the round-earth cables did for you.
I trust that you will enjoy the CD-5 when you get it. Now that you've made a decision to purchase it. In the mean time while you patiently wait, perhaps you could post on the Linn forum about wondering if a Karik or CD12 is better, and what about them both being dusted by a Naim CDI? That should help you pass the time.
In the mean time, if it really is to be 3-5 months before you buy the CD-5: get that NACA5 into your system now!.
Has anyone counted so many threads from one contributor on the same topic before (except perhaps marco
)

'Synergy' is a distraction, a euphemism for covering one components flaws with another. Not a recipe for good anything.
A good CD player is a good CD player and will remain so through any good amp.
Buy the CD5, cable the system with Naim cables and get on with the important stuff, being able to play your system for 8 hours a day and developing arthritic lower leg bits.
Here comes the sun.
Paul

Tip: Buy a record deck.
If you're worried about SACD, rest assured that vinyl is still better (I've heard the difference).

(Copied from Paul Ransom's post above. Is it plagiarism if I cite the source? Anyway, Paul, your's is a great comment.)
Nuno, You're kidding yourself if you think synergy is a critical success factor. Music is a CSF. Your own reaction is a CSF.
I understand the difficulty you're having making the decision. A CD5 is a lot of money, and - in this forum - you get no points for owning a CD5.
Edit: The only 'points' that are worthwhile in this game are musical enjoyment points for you and your room mates.
I do not understand, however, why you think opening up repeated threads on the same topic will help.
Get an LP12 - better sound, less cost.

...I see; you have to earn points, that's what it is. That must be real flat earth, I suppose. I had this vague idea it was about enjoying music...
I suppose I did not earn any points going 5 all the way - do I care? Nop. Do I enjoy my music? Yep.
