Music is back ON thanks to Naim Audio North America

Praise due to NANA for fantastic customer service. On Monday my local Naim dealer came to the house to set up the SBLs. During this process he found that the phase plug was loose in one of the drive units (thanks UPS!). I had to go out of town the next day so I overnight FedEx-ed the offending item to NANA with a cryptic note saying "Please fix me quickly to cure the horrible silence". When I called Naim on Tuesday afternoon Chris had already repaired the unit and was about to test it. He then arranged for the unit to be express shipped back by Thursday so my dealer could complete the setup on Friday morning. Watta guy.

I have dealt with Naim Audio in Salisbury and they were good but I felt this was just exceptional service, especially as Chris' colleague is on vacation and I'm sure Chris had a million and one other things to do.

Thanks.

Glad to hear you've had good luck with NANA; I'll have to deal with them soon enough when recapping time comes around in a year or so.

I see you have a Mana shelf for your LP-12... where did you find this? I'm surprised at the enormous amount of postings this product gets here, and would like to hear one in action. I'm in San Francisco as well.

Finally, I used to use a K-18 on my Ittok too; I have used a Rega Exact for the last few years and the Exact kicks the K-18's ass.

saturn, I too used to have a k18 on my lp12 but last year I changed to an exact as well. At the same time I had my linn fully tuned up with new grommets, springs etc (what the hell is a grommet?). I too feel it is a nice upgrade. Sometimes I feel that the majority of forum members are so into very expensive moving coils that a quality cartridge such as the exact gets overlooked or even knocked. Admittedly, I havent spent any length of time listening to expensive moving coils. In many ways my lp12/ekos/exact beats my cdx. Anyhow, enjoy. david.
ps. I spent the summer of 1980 in San Francisco and met my future wife there. What a great city!

the LP12 sits on an old Sound Organisation table I have had since college ($100 was a lot of money then!). I really don't use it much as nearly all my records are in boxes in the garage. Sucks being too poor to afford a 6,000sq ft house.

I got the Mana table because there was a pile of Naim boxes sitting on the floor and I thought that probably wasn't ideal. When I called the sales guy he said that if I didn't like the Mana table I could return it within 30 days. While it is unlikely that I could be bothered to pack it all up again, it's nice to know that if I'd hated it, I'd only be out the postage. I have the Cd3.5, Flatcap, 250 and Supercap on it. I think it made the music sound a little better; crisper, cleaner, easier to follow bass lines. Could all be psychosomatic of course. Definitely _looks_ better than a stack of boxes.

If you want to come round and hear what Mana sounds like, drop me an email. I would have emailed you but from saturnsf@nospam.com it is not very easy to figure out your ISP.
Of course you could wait until I get my CDX next month...
