My 102 is hi-capped... does it need a NAPSC?

... or would it be a waste of money?
And b) is it worth paying more for the new version?

Yes. Definitely.
B) Don't know - maybe.
Paul
PS: I had a 102 with both HiCap and NAPSC

You can judge by yourself, just call me.

All opinions are my own, and reflect those of the organisation i work for, even if not stipulated.

NAPSC is essential...IMO.
I have a 102 hi-capped and unplugged the NAPSC to see if it made and differance - stupid of me to think it woundn't really! (Yes I did plug the thingy in when you don't have a NAPSC b4 anyone asks!)

Left you a private topic about this.

In a word - yes
The difference is not as big as with the HiCap but nonetheless a noticeable improvement for the money.

Mike

I think Richard Dane once posted on here that a NAPSC is the logical first upgrade for a 102 perhaps implying that on its own it would make a bigger improvement than a HiCap on its own, but perhaps I'm misinterpreting!

David, yes you are.
The hi-cap is a fundemental upgrade which is probably measurable.
The NASPC, well not sure what it did really.

When I added a NAPSC to my 102 I felt it was like lifting a veil from the system in my opinion it is well worth the money.

I agree with Turbo completely. Adding an NAPSC is one of the single most cost effective upgrades you can do!

Claude--
You already know the answer to both. Yes, and Yes.
Best,
Bob

The Napsc is Naim's cheapest PSU upgrade. I believe it powers the front panel of the preamp.
Yes it makes a big difference!
I think the idea is that you get a Napsc and then you'll be a believer in Naim's other PSUs as being performance-lifters - and they work exclusively elsewhere...
Regards,
Steve.

And of course the fuse inside is directional...
I opened mine up the other week and turned it around and hey presto much more bass, in terms of transient, depth and detail. Now I have to be honest and say that I have not reversed it back to do a proper A/B but it may be one to play around with as I am not sure exactly which was round it is meant to go.
Regards,
Tom
