LP12 Help

Hello all,
I have now acquired a s/h LP12 1989 model with black ittock lvII, MC15. This is to go with my 72/hi/140/intro2 setup.
Does it matter whether the red connection on the interconnect from the turntable goes to ch1 or ch2 on the 72?
