Recommended Danish Trip/hip-hop compilation

*Nobody Beats The Beats*

Picked up this compilation in August and neglected to mention it at the time. If you like Ninjatune, Nightmares On Wax and that sort of vibe, this is a superb piece. Shows the Danish crowd to be deep in the mines on this vein. Highly recommended.

Note--at the time I bought mine only a double cd version was available. The label owner and producer told me a multi-vinyl version was to be released with additional cuts. Not expecting to ever see this available in the U.S. I picked up the double cd and haven't thought to look for vinyl.

Nick Lees, this is right up your alley. Also, all you other cats that were out there posting on that other N.O.W/downtempo thread, or who like Bonobo or that kind of stuff--jump on this.

This two-cd set is one which I NEVER regret buying. Wonderfully paced and programmed, great music. And I gotta say it's pretty cool to be listening to a hip-hop tune with funky beats and have some guy do some solid rhyming in english then transition to some guy rapping in Danish with some english words thrown in. When I play this on the air in St. Louis it's gonna blow some minds! Some people are going to think, "am I more stoned that I thought? What the F?" Other people are going to think, man, that's a pretty heavy accent, I wonder where that guy is from and what he's saying.

OK, I'm overselling probably. But this CD rates v. highly with me, right up there next to "Sonny Cheeba Rocks the World" by Blackout. Available on the Topaz label. I've only recommended the Sonny Cheeba CD about fifteen times over the last three years!
