I am about to buy a NAS to store my music.
How many albums can I expect to store on a 1TB drive?
Using FLAC
Using WAV
Thanks for feedback

WAV (or AIFF) will take the same space as on the original CD; i.e. 650MB for a full CD so 3 CD in 2GB or 1500 in 1TB. This can vary a lot as many CDs have less than 650MB and some push the CDRB spec to fit more in.
For FLAC (and ALAC, etc) the actual compression ratio does vary, but a conservative estimate is 3:2 and generously about 2:1 (i.e. a 650 MB CD will take 300 - 450MB compressed with FLAC). That would give you 2-3000 CDs on your TB.

If you want a practical example I have ripped approxm 2,500 CD's in WAV and also have about 30 Hi Res FLAC albums downloaded.
That little lot takes up 1.14 TB.
