Having seen Jon Honeyball's Singapore thread last week, I thought it might be of value to have a general thread like this, showing where we members get to throughout the world. So please join in

I suggest if it's an interesting place or subject on one's travels that's one considers is worth sharing.
I'm doing postcard ones here, to cheer myself up after getting my some of my stuff stolen yesterday ........

Sounds a bit sniffy IMO.
People do "pretty stuff" ie picture postcards as a reminder of where they have been in as accurate way as possible, they don't need to be works of art, just a good representation of where they have been.
You sounded a bit condescending about them.

Easy up Howard....Wasn't being condescending at all, far from it...Was merely asking Peter what sort of pics this thread was going to be - if you knew me, you would know the pictures I take are of people, events and news...not sunsets - so was just judging if I should contribute.....
As my partner is an art and portrait photographer for Time Asia, I would find it hard to be 'sniffy' about pictures of simple, yet strong, aesthetic....Postcard or not.
Anyway, in the spirit of the thread, and as I know Peter loves Asia, here is a very rare colour image from me:

And here's a little medley of 'softer' BWs from various travels:
China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Cambodia

Very nice indeed. I love the shot of the kid in the hammock.

SC Ok interpretation failure.

No problem at all....
(the only reason I replied was because I've always made it a point, for various reasons, to never go near any photography threads here (or anywhere else on the net) and the first time I do, I get told off..!)
Anyway, back to images....

Thanks Steve. They're crops. The boat in the Antarctica picture is the boat we went down on, the Polar Pioneer.

Not 'went down' as in went down..?!

I like B&W and gritty pics but I also like Winky's rusted machine. Nature has an interesting way of taking over.

Not so much, fortunately. I meant "went down" as in "went South". There was a liner in port in Ushuaia that had hit an iceberg, though. And a cruise ship did actually go down a few years ago.quote:Originally posted by SC:

Sydney last year about this time, great trip doing the Opera house tour and when I got home this was in that section I didn't plan it but it's a wonderful mistake. It is now my computer screen.

Mud,
That would make a good album cover.
What was it meant to be a photo of do you know?
Stu
It would have to be an ECM album, though.
