Having seen Jon Honeyball's Singapore thread last week, I thought it might be of value to have a general thread like this, showing where we members get to throughout the world. So please join in Smile

Always wanted to experience it being light at midnight. Last week I had my chance in Oslo.

It was a bit overcast which didn't help. Nevertheless I enjoyed sitting outside on a veranda drinking and chatting into the small hours. It finally got dark at half past Midnight before getting lighter again a little after 2:00am.

Not the best picture, but I like it Smile

Well I hope you don't mind a few snaps of some sligtly older buildings, state of the art in their day, from my recent 'business' trip to northern France, researching Gothic Architecture! Unlike some poor folks, I won't give you the full Magic Lantern Show... Big Grin

Beauvais Cathedral

Joe had asked on another thread If I'd post some pictures of the places I visited in Italy, so here goes......... Just taken with my pocket Panasonic LX2.

No need to say where this was taken! The tower really does look precarious!

Took this from my hotel room in Volterra, a really nice old town half way between Pisa and Siena - Beautiful landscape, so much space.

We were in Volterra a few weeks back. It really is very nice. Great architecture, cool artisan shops and vampires!

No. Volterra features in the Twilight teen-vampire stories. It is the village that the vampires seek to eventually move to as part of their vampirey lifes' journey.

Yes many interesting places Joe. I really liked Siena in particular. Friendly people and so much going on to see and hear.

I hope to return sometime and spend more time there.

Another panoramic photo of this wonderful place. Il Campo where they have the famouse hores race is just to the left of the tower - BTW a great place to sit and just watch the world go by Smile

BTW. Winky, thanks for the info and now I know why my 15 year old daughter was so keen to visit the place!

Lotusland garden in Montecito last week with my niece. Incredible garden on 25 acres.

Parterre formal garden below, the rest of the gardens are incredible collections of succulents, cacti palms and Cycads. Created by Madame Ganna Walska.

This is a friend's house in Santa Barbara, it has about an acre of bamboo. He loves asian stuff and is a big time chef/caterer.

The Koi pond thru black bamboo.

Minou, Julia Child's kitty stalks the garden

There's a small cabana with bath and shoji screens for rent, amazing place to stay.

Thanks Dave.

Well, as some of the other Forum members may know already, I use a little pocket digital camera, the Panasonic Lumix LX2. It's so easy to carry everywhere.

Here's another picture I took whilst in Pisa:

Great photos Peter.
Someone in work mentioned to me on Friday that Panasonic are soon to launch the LX3 replacement - the LX5 (LX4 was skipped).

What's the likely hood of cheap(er) LX3s on the market?
