Shahinians with Naim 5 any thoughts?

Thanks for all the previous suggestions. My listening to date has thrown up the idea of Shahinian speakers coupled with CD5 and Nait5. But I have yet to be able to arrange a demo. Does anyone have any thoughts on this combination. My room is about 6.5 metres X 4 played crossways and I only listen to classical music.

Hi,

Go for it, they are fantastic speakers, which ones where you thinking of Elfs, Starters, or Compass. The Compass are one of the best looking speakers IMHO. I have a pair of Arcs that sound wonderful on the end of my 135 clones, but I wouldn't drive them with any thing less, I heard them on the end of a Regs Mira and it wasn't really up to the job of driving them, saying that they are a Mk1 pair and I understand the Mk2 are easier to drive. let us know how you get on.

Hi Pete
Thanks for that.
Not sure which Shahinians but probably Starter or Compass as I expect these to be most compatible with cd5 nait 5. The concept of Shahinians appeals and I can't quite see how the Elf's fit in with this concept.
I think I hope the cd and amp won't be man enough for the Arcs as my speaker budget was £800 originally! As you can see it has already gone up considerably since my first request for help on this group!
Cheers

Max, the Super Elf is great speaker. One of my faves at its price. You are right though, they are different to the rest of range in overall execution and presentation of sound. Of course you may prefer this. I remember prefering the Elfs to Arcs when I first heard them years ago. Bear in mind I prefered SBLs to Arcs though. Whatever you get, enjoy it.

Guys
I'll not bother re-iterating what Jason has said, and see my previous comments on Arcs! They are just fantastic. Beware a new price rise, but better build quality from the cabinets and internal bracing has lead to a better sound.

I have heard/used ARCS with a Denon PMA 250 ( 150 quid amp, and was particularly amazed!) They just are 1000 times better with high end kit!
Go for it

Hi,

My Nait 1 will drive my MK1 Arcs but to control the bass and stop them booming I need the 135 clones, and now after doubling the smoothing caps to 60.000uF they really grip them and play tunes.
