What is your favourite quote? Maybe a withering put down or something inspirational - maybe something humorous or just plain silly or something that motivates you?
Here is a jewell I stumbled across earlier today...
'Is it not the interest of the human race, that every one should be so taught and placed, that he would find his highest enjoyment to arise from the continued practice of doing all in his power to promote the well-being, and happiness, of every man, woman, and child, without regard to their class, sect, party, country or colour'? ~ Robert Owen

Orson Welles had this line in Carol Reed's classic movie The Third Man and for reasons I can't explain it resonates with me;
"Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long Holly. "

Douglas Adams: :-
"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by".
"the spaceships hung in the sky in much the same way bricks don't".
Finally maybe pertinent around here at times:-
"The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair".

Hi BigH.
There are loads from Douglas Adams. He's a hero of mine; especially in Dirk Gently guise.
Think I might revisit 'The long dark teatime of the soul'.
Cheers for the memory, Paul.

Just what I was thinking, I re-read HHGTTG series every year but never, the Dirk Gently stuff.
If you quote all the good Douglas Adams lines you basically re-print the books?

I agree. The man was a genius with the witty quip and ha seemingly pulled them from a capacious hat.
I'm going to dig out '..teatime.' for tomorrow. All life's little problems become just childish farce when my head's buried in his books.
Laugh out loud fun of the best kind.

You mean like this George?:
"Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Yes, march against Babylon, the land of rebels, a land that I will judge! Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you," says the LORD. "Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction". (Jeremiah 50:21-22)
