What is your favourite quote?

What is your favourite quote? Maybe a withering put down or something inspirational - maybe something humorous or just plain silly or something that motivates you?
Here is a jewell I stumbled across earlier today...
'Is it not the interest of the human race, that every one should be so taught and placed, that he would find his highest enjoyment to arise from the continued practice of doing all in his power to promote the well-being, and happiness, of every man, woman, and child, without regard to their class, sect, party, country or colour'? ~ Robert Owen

Jules: Wanna know what I'm buyin' Ringo?
Pumpkin: What?
Jules: Your life. I'm givin' you that money so I don't hafta kill your ass. You read the Bible?
Pumpkin: Not regularly.
Jules: There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you. I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, that meant your ass. I never game much thought to what it meant. I just thought it was a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before I popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. See, now I'm thinkin': maybe it means you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could mean you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. And I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.

I'm surprised Oscar Wilde hasn't been mentioned yet. Pretty much any of his one-liners do it for me! e.g...
"There is only one thing worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about"
I also like something a friend told me once and I am always reminded of usually after doing something stupid:
"Embarrassment is good for the soul!"

No Groucho Marx quotes yet!
"I have had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn't it."
"These are my principles and if you don't like them, I have others."
"I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members."
"I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception."
"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read."
"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made."

I came across this tonight -
The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.
Hunter S. Thompson

The late and great Bill Hicks, it is one of my favourites too.
Nice to see some Hunter S Thompson here too.
Winston Churchill was a great source of quotes, I believe the one about being sober in the morning was to Bessie Braddock, a Labour MP, although is often attributed to Lady Astor who had some fine exchanges with Churchill.
Lady Astor said to Churchill, "If you were my husband, I'd poison your tea," to which he responded, "Madam, if you were my wife, I'd drink it!" from wikipedia

My favourite from Churchill (by way of Marv Levy, Buffalo Bills coach, and historian) is:
"He has all the virtues I don't admire, and none of the vices I do."
Graucho Marks, Woody Allen are great sources too.
