i think tony from pfm got it spot on about mm,here it is, Very sad news. The guy was part genius / part arse, but never less than entertaining. He left a good mark - the UK music scene was in a terrible state in '76 and desperately needed kicking into touch. He managed to put sufficient gloss and spin onto the underground music of the time to make it stick. We desperately need someone like him to give the X-Factor karaoke and dreary stadium dad-rock of today a similar kicking.

What I find bizarre is that MM was a year older than me,obviously he was not a prog fan then?

UK pop scene might have been in a mess but the other stuff which is supposed to have been sunk by punk, seems to have survived?
